Sikeston Jaycees Donate to Disabled Veterans Facility

Saturday, April 19, 2014

Members of the Sikeston Jaycees took a recent tour of the Gobbler Ridge Farm Disabled Veterans Facility located southwest of Bloomfield and used the occasion to present a $5,000 donation to the operation. The donation will be utilized for road maintenance and for the construction of a handicap accessible fishing dock at the farm. Several members of Dexter's American Legion Kenady-Hanks Post 59 were on hand to spend the day with the Jaycees and to show them around the 125-acre farm, which is maintained by the American Legion through monetary and in-kind donations. Disabled veterans are invited to spend a day or overnight at the farm to hunt, take photographs, or to simply enjoy the scenery and wildlife. Shown from left to right are Sikeston Jaycees President Shawn Towe, Tom Love of Dexter who serves as chairman of the facility, and Shawn Goodman, a Sikeston Jaycee member. For further information about Gobbler Ridge Farms and the Disabled Veterans Wildlife Facility, contact Love at 573-820-0802 or James Adams of Kenady-Hanks American Legion Post 59 at 573-421-3660.
